NCBFAASA has been a leading logistics voice in the shipping industry since 1999. We are not shipowners, but transportation executives who work closely with an extensive portfolio of global and regional service providers. Our primary goal is to provide freight savings, a quality service and support for our members. Our success lies in our reputation, experience, influence and results. We emphasize building relationships with our members. These relationships are built on trust and collaboration ultimately leading to information that allows our members to make better decisions.

A flexible and responsive supply chain is vital to sustaining a competitive advantage and profitable growth in a global economy. The shipping solutions facilitated by NCBFAASA not only improves your total supply chain performance, it creates stability that delivers consistent value to your customers and stakeholders.

Membership

Membership in NCBFAASA is open to all companies that are members of National Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association of America (NCBFAA) . The size of your company does not matter to NCBFAASA. Members range in size from companies with a few employees to members that employee hundreds of people.

Support

The shipping industry continues to evolve at a very fast pace. The one area of change that has proved to be a challenge for our members is carrier support. As a way to cut costs, carriers have been steadily eliminating sales and sales support positions. Only the very largest customers have special support teams assigned to their accounts to resolve issues. Because of our combined volume and relationships with our carriers, we have these same special support teams assigned to our account. If a member is experiencing an issue, we elevate it to the appropriate carrier support team for a fast resolution. The majority of the issues are resolved the same day or within 24 -48 hours.

Our job is to make participating in NCBFAASA a stress-free process.  We spend the time resolving the issue so members can focus on growing their business. The Association acts as a liaison between the member and all program contacts. Problems or member concerns are elevated to the highest level within the service provider’s company. Members are provided with frequent updates regarding carrier services and market intelligence that might impact their operations.

Member Rewards

NCBFAASA is a not-for-profit association as required by the Federal Maritime Commission. Any funds in excess of operating expenses are reviewed by NCBFAASA's Board of Directors. Upon approval from the board and review of cash flow considerations, individual refund checks are sent to participating NCBFAASA members.

The more the individual member participates, the greater the membership reward. Individual member rewards can vary from a few hundred dollars to over $5,000. Not only are NCBFAASA members saving on their freight costs, they are benefiting from a refund.

We are proud of the fact that NCBFAASA members have received hundreds of thousands of dollars in member rewards since 1999.

How Does It Work?

Members have full access to the Association contracts. Confidential bullet rates can be requested as needed. Members deal directly with their carriers for booking, invoicing, payment.  Members do not change the way they are doing business. NCBFAASA's primary function is to serve as liason between members and carriers for rate requests, rates being filed, misrated bills, or any other issue where the member may need service.

The NCBFAASA is a not for profit association. To fund the association, NCBFAASA charges a small container fee for each container shipped under an association contract. We recognize margins in the shipping industry continue to decrease. The NCBFAASA container fee is maintained at the absolute lowest possible  level to ensure member margins remain profitable. The NCBFAASA is the contract party for all contracts. The association assumes the risk and the tremendous maintenance responsibilities associated with signing a contract. It is not uncommon for NCBFAASA to process over 700 contract amendments per year.
